Today, my dream comes true with the release of Song of Iron. It is the dream of many in the gaming industry to one day make their own game, and over the past two years, I have put my heart and soul into Song of Iron and I couldn’t be more excited to be putting it out into the world and moving into the next chapter of my adventure.
Song of Iron is a Nordic-inspired adventure built around my hope to bring a deep and immersive world to players along with a fun and dynamic combat system. The adventure will bring players through old forests, dark caves, to the top of icy windswept mountains and more.
I often compare the combat of Song of Iron to an old western bar fight. Swinging chairs, throwing bottles, and tackling enemies through saloon windows. A nice brawl where you can throw your axe, drop kick the next goblin then launch a few arrows. When the fight is over grab a fresh shield and your axe or choose a new weapon. I also like to think of it as the Viking John Wick, with quick and furious fights.
The story of Song of Iron was something that came out of a homebrew Dungeon & Dragons game close friends of mine all played in. Despite the setting of the world, I was determined to play as a fur cloaked barbarian. This led to something really special in our play and something I’m excited for people to experience in the game.
In the end, Song of Iron is really all about the overall experience. A world that feels alive where combat is visceral and fun with bits of story put into every moment. The closer you look the more there is to see.
I’ve been in the gaming industry for about 15 years now, but Song of Iron is my first independent title. It’s a game that started out as a small side project, but really turned into something special to me. This has been the most incredible experience and the support of Xbox and its fans has been amazing from the very beginning. I’m so happy to finally release Song of Iron into the world.
